Feedback Informed Treatment & Deliberate Practice Therapy in Tacoma and across Washington, Utah & Florida

It’s time for therapy that works. Crafting an experience that’s better for everyone.

Therapy shouldn’t be a one-way street.

It’s tough when you've poured time and money into a therapy experience that left you feeling unsatisfied. Maybe it didn’t have a real impact—despite your hard work, you still feel stuck right where you started. You’re filled with a mix of emotions — frustration, disappointment, and a sense of uncertainty about where to turn next. Wouldn’t it be great to trust a therapist again and find someone who makes you feel heard? Or someone who actually wants to help you grow and change? Too often it’s felt like you were just another person on the schedule, never finding a meaningful connection with your therapist or feeling any sort of difference in your life.

It’s okay to want more from your therapy experience. Mediocre “results” aren’t getting you where you want to be. Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, and it's crucial that you feel comfortable speaking up about what's not working for you. Your voice matters and you deserve something that works and feels right for you.

Here, your feedback matters, and I’m incorporating it every step of the way.

How it works

I incorporate both Deliberate Practice and Feedback Informed Treatment into my work with clients.

These are evidence-based approaches that use your ongoing feedback about our work together and my continued growth as a clinician to best help you reach your goals. Research shows that some therapists help their clients get results head and shoulders above the rest and that their outcomes are tied to ongoing feedback and deliberate practice. These therapists have been termed supershrinks, and I aim to do just that—to help you get out-of-this-world results and to live an exceptionally happy life.

This entire process is about back and forth—you play an integral role. By listening to you and learning what you want from therapy with me, I can adjust the experience accordingly. Regularly analyzing my work allows me to catch blind spots and opportunities for growth I might not see the first time around, ensuring that I’m coming to each session equipped with the most relevant skills & approaches you need to experience change in your life.

Feedback Informed Treatment is an ongoing conversation between you and me. Before and after each session, you’ll receive a short, seconds-long survey.  Your answers help me understand more about you, why you’re here, and your genuine, unfiltered thoughts or feelings about our session together. We’ll openly discuss your feedback to be on the same page and provide insight into what is working for you and what could be improved.

Becoming an expert at anything takes practice, and I pride myself on continually practicing my skills to be at the top of my game for those I work with.

Deliberate practice is more of the behind-the-scenes part of the process. This research-backed method focuses on improving outcomes for you by revisiting our sessions after the fact and getting feedback and coaching from consultants on my own skills to better serve you. This often includes taping sessions and viewing them with a focused perspective on your outcomes and satisfaction with therapy. Combining your feedback with videotaping our work together helps me identify different blind spots and areas needed for improvement in my skills.

For me, drawing upon Deliberate Practice and Feedback Informed Treatment isn't just beneficial — it's essential for becoming the best therapist I can be.

If I’m continually immersing myself in a culture of improvement, I can better help my clients thrive. I’m committed to this path of excellence and devoting my full effort to consistent learning, regular practice, and constructive feedback.

The Feedback Informed Treatment Process

    • Sent as a link via email before the session.

    • Takes a few seconds to fill out.

    • Asks how you’ve been feeling in areas of your life over the past week, such as individually, interpersonally, socially, and overall.

    • Sent as a link via email before the session — you fill it out at the end of the session.

    • Similar to the pre-session survey, this takes a few seconds to fill out.

    • Asks about your feelings regarding the session, including if it was a good fit, your thoughts on our relationship, the approach used, and if it met your goals.

  • As we conclude the session, we’ll talk about the feedback you provided and dive deeper into follow-up questions and your scores, focusing on what worked, what didn’t, and whether anything was missed.

  • On my end, I’ll analyze trends in your overall well-being and session scores over time.

If there are meaningful trends, I’ll discuss them with you during sessions and sometimes share the data via screen share. Overall, this feedback serves as a guide so I can adapt my approach to better meet your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This method is best suited for someone who consents to have their sessions videotaped since this will yield the best results. However, consent for taping is not required. I only have the most recent session of tape stored at a time, and after I’ve viewed each one they are deleted. You can revoke consent to taping at any time. Feel free to reach out if you have concerns or additional questions related to this part of the process.

  • All feedback received from my clients is valuable and makes me a better therapist! It’s beneficial to hear about different areas of strength or specific needs for improvement so that if needed, I can explore alternative interventions, dive deeper into practicing current skill sets, or seek additional training or consultation.

  • That depends! Sometimes clients and I view parts of a session together to help them see what I’m seeing or to process some feelings about a difficult session. Generally, I view these tapes on my own or in a confidential consultation with another therapist. I delete the tapes after I’ve viewed them and only have the most recent session tape saved. This protects those with whom I work and allows me to stay focused on continuous improvement in my current work.
